What is the KonMari Method?

The KonMari Method® encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and finally, sentimental items. The goal is to choose what you want to keep in your life moving forward and to discard items that no longer spark joy by letting them go with gratitude.

The method is simple, effective, and sustainable. Many people are drawn to it because it places importance on being mindful, introspective, and forward- looking. This work isn’t always easy but if you tidy your home using the KonMari Method®, you will quickly see it leads to more joyful living in all areas of your life! Are you ready to spark joy?

The Six Rules of Tidying Up

  • We will set realistic expectations together. Trust the process!

  • Returning to this vision will be one of your most important tools throughout the tidying process.

  • We will declutter everything first before making decisions about permanent storage. Temporary storage can be used throughout the process to avoid a big mess.

  • This helps to provide a clear roadmap and helps with efficiency.

  • The order is specifically designed to help you hone your ability to distinguish what sparks joy. The order is clothing, books, papers, komono (miscellaneous), and sentimental.

  • Focus on what to keep rather than what to get rid of. Keep the items that spark joy in your life and will serve you moving forward.
